EU-Commission Invitation,
The Directorate General Information Society and Media of the European Commission has launched a study to analyse the impact of Community funded R&D under the 6th Framework Programme in the area of information Science Technologies (IST). The purpose of this study is to enhance the understanding of the impact of Community-supported research in IST. The main course of the study comprises an in-depth analysis into cross-cutting dimensions to find, and where possible, quantify the systemic effects of the programme. This includes an analysis of newly acquired innovation and scientific capacities, spill-overs and other externalities, and of the structuring effects and the mediating role of the IST programme. The findings will help refine the Community strategy in this field and support decision-making on future programmes.
